AMule |
In Computing, aMule is a peer-to-peer file sharing Application_software that works with the EDonkey network, but offers more features than the standard EDonkey2000. It is a Fork (software development) of the XMule Source code, which itself is a fork of the lMule project, which was the first attempt to bring the EMule client to Linux. It is now the Linux client on the eMule links section on their webpage. Like eMule, aMule is Free software released under the GNU General Public License.
The stated goal of aMule is to be the all-platform emule , with current support for Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Microsoft Windows and Solaris Operating Environment.
Since the start of the project as a non-friendly fork of the xMule project, there has been continued animosity between the developers and supporters of both projects.
