Adblock |
Adblock is a popular content-filtering extension (Mozilla) for the Mozilla Firefox web browser. Adblock allows users to block page elements, such as online advertising, from being downloaded and displayed. Similarly to the Mozilla Firefox built-in image blocker, Adblock filters elements subject to their source address. It is, however, more flexible, as it allows filtering based on the regular expressions, and as, beside images, it can also block IFRAMEs, scripts, Macromedia Flash, and more.
Unlike most of its competitors, Adblock doesn t come with pre-installed set of filters. A popular third-party filterset for Adblock is Filterset.G.
The last official release of Adblock, with a baroque version number Adblock 0.5 development build 2 nightly 39 pass 6, was released on 4 July 2004, and it no longer works in the current development stage version of Mozilla Firefox.

Due to stagnation in the upstream development, some fork (software development)ed versions of Adblock have been created, including additional, frequently requested, features.
