AROS (Amiga Research Operating System) is an open source implementation of the AmigaOS Application programming interfaces. Designed to be portable and flexible, Port (computing)s are currently available for x86 and PowerPC based Personal Computers in native mode and hosted flavours , with other architectures in development.

The project, started in 1997, has reached about over 75% completion after years of effort by a small team.
