Bandeapart |
Bandeapart is a World Wide Web devoted to Canada arts and music.
Operated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Bandeapart is the French language counterpart to CBC Radio Three. The sites had their genesis in a 1997 plan to open a third radio network, devoted to youth culture. Although the original radio network proposal was abandoned, the CBC launched Radio Three and Bandeapart as pilot projects through its new media division.
Bandeapart also rebroadcasts some of its content as a Friday and Saturday night program on Espace musique.
The CBC has announced a partnership with Standard Broadcasting and Sirius Satellite Radio, with the intent of introducing satellite radio service to Canada. Its application and two others for satellite radio service were approved by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on June 16, 2005. CBC Radio Three and Bandeapart will become full-time stations on Sirius Canada.
