Baron von Brunk |
Everything you need to know about Baron von Brunk (and then some!)
=Section A - Who is this guy=
If you ve seen his advertisements or found his name in a google search, this should clear things up.
==Chapter 1 - Introduction==
A lot of people have asked who is Baron von Brunk . People have spotted numerous fliers and xeroxed advertisements for this man, usually around central Pennsylvania. The pictures consist of an Amish man, or sometimes a guy winking and giving a thumbs up.
The Baron, is actually a guy in his early 20 s named Julius, who dresses as an Amish man as a joke (since in real life he s got a beard and wears suspenders). He uses fliers and business cards to promote his website.
Most of his advertisements are in Lancaster, PA, but since Brunk has a section of his page to allow people to download, print, copy, and hang up fliers, people from other states have been advertising Barovonbrunk.com.
==Chapter 2 - Brunk s internet legacy==
Before he owned his website, he made a small internet icon for himself by joining dozens upon dozens of message boards. He originated at G4tv.com in late 2002, and has since been a member of various sites as Newgrounds and YTMND.
His original websites were cheap free sites hosted on Geocities and 95mb.com. It wasn t until the summer of 2005 when he upgraded to a real domain. It s said that his websites have caused a lot of trouble and controversey. For example, he claims to have been fired from his former job because his website offended a fellow employee.
In 2003, he had a dispute with a moderator from the G4tv.com message boards that escalated into a large quarrel, and eventually death threats were said. Subsequently, Baron von Brunk got banned from a video game convention which was ironically owned by the G4 moderator. The two haven t spoken to each other since 2004, but according to a few of Brunk s friends, the two are neutral with each other, and Brunk agreed to leave the moderator alone.
=Section B - So what s this site all about=
For those of you who haven t actually seen his page yet, this is what he offers.
== Chapter 1 - General Content ==
The first thing you ll see when you enter his site is a black background with a Flash intro. It s a cartoon of a crocodile saying, HEY KIDS! , then getting hit on the head with a broom. His animation constantly loops after the crocodile yells Oooooowwwch . There s a message below the flash intro that encourages users to view his site with Internet Explorer, and not Mozilla Firefox.
His website is hard to describe. Some of it consists of angry rantings (similar to Maddox), while the rest features cartoons and drawings he made. Much of his artwork is simply photo-manipulations that he created in Adobe Photoshop. His cartoons are usually about video games, such as Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and Mortal Kombat parodies.
He also has a section of his page where he talks about his vast toy collection. He claims to own more action figures than all of your little brothers combined .
Brunk s original websites were of black backgrounds and multicolored text, but when he purchased his own domain in 2005, he stuck with a color scheme and theme to use throughout his entire website. His theme is sky blue, white clouds, and World War 1 airplanes everywhere.
==Chapter 2 - No Politics==
Although it s sort of clear that The Baron slides towards the right in the political scale, he boasts that his site contains no political bias. He s quoted by saying on a video game message board...
I m an entertainer. Entertainment and politics should never mix. When people see my cartoons, the last thing they want is for me to shove my personal beliefs down their throats
Some of his rants (like the ones about guns, vegans, and patriotism) are borderline political, yet he refuses to have any topics on his site which could pose as a potential insult to democrats or republicans. Some say this is a cheap marketing ploy to get respect among all people (and to get everyone to like his site), while others think it s about time they view a website without having to hear someone bitching about George Bush or Iraq.
In fact, in one of his rantings, he uses George W s image in a non-insulting or non-promotional manner, and out of protest he only refers to him as the president and not George W. Bush, in order to let people know he s not going to start a political debate.
==Chapter 3 - Myths ==
There s several images of him that a lot of people have seen throughout the internet, such as a mugshot photo, or pictures of him in Amish garb holding a scythe. The mugshot picture was obviously a Photoshopped image, while the Amish pictures were of him in his backyard holding one of his scythes (he owns two). Baron von Brunk is not actually Amish, and as of the time of this article, he s never been to prison.
People mistake Brunk of being associated with neo-nazism due to the pictures of him wearing an Iron Cross around his neck. The Iron Cross is actually an imperial German symbol of courage which existed years before , French, and Romanian Gypsy.
