Beat 106 |
Beat 106 is a regional radio station broadcasting across Central Scotland - with the tagline, Beat 106 - Number One for Music in Scotland.
Its on-air launch was on 19 November 1999 at 1.06pm. The first presenter on-air was Matt Finlay. Matt is still at the station today.
Over Beat 106 s five year history the music has changed considerably, moving away from a mainly dance station to a station playing music for all tastes, from Franz Ferdinand, to Snoop Dogg, to El Presidente, to Basement Jaxx.
The station was originally established by the Big Beat Group, however a few months into its existence it was bought by the Capital Radio Group in 2000. Then in 2005 Capital Radio merged with GWR to form GCap, creating the UK s largest commercial radio group.|
