Bored of Studies

Bored of Studies is a website , that provides free of charge notes to help students, by past students from New South Wales, in their final high school year, in which they undertake the Higher School Certificate (HSC). Additional features of the website include a forum and a student assessment modeller (often used as an approximate University Admissions Index (UAI) calculator). The website was established in 2002, as the successor to the highly popular hscboardz and uniboardz, and is becoming increasingly influential, both in the education system and to a lesser degree in the media; and it is not uncommon for teachers to reference Bored of Studies.

There has often been criticism from teachers that this site leads to cheating among students. As a result, it is known that teachers frequent the website to check whether student assignment submissions are genuine. Its mission statement details the origins of the site: [e]stablished July 8th 2002, Bored of Studies was pioneered by 4 ex-HSC students who finished their HSC in 2001. Being the first to sit the newly revised HSC syllabus, the lack of information for current HSC students became apparent and hence developed into the sole inspiration for the development of this website . HSC study notes and tips uploaded on the site are available for public download, making Bored of Studies a site truly created by students for students. The forums are also used to discuss and ask questions about school/university-related and non-school topics.

While the overwhelming majority of users of the site is from New South Wales, this changed in 2005, as a sub-site for the state of Victoria was recently created. This consists of forums for students studying for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and a VCE Student Assessment Modeller based on the successful HSC Student Assessment Modeller.
