Chemical Markup Language |
CML (Chemical Markup Language) is a new approach to manage molecular information using tools such as XML and Java platform. It is based strictly on SGML, the most robust and widely used system for precise information management in many areas. It has been developed over several years and has been tested in many areas and on a variety of machines.
CML used to be stored in many different files types which inhibited reuse of the documents. CML uses XML s portability to help CML developers and chemists access CML files from the Jumbo or Jmol browsers (Java platform is needed to use these browsers).
CML s root element is named molecule . Some of the elements in a CML document are: atomArray (child element of molecule), stringArray, and floatArray (child elements of molecule).
