ClamAV

Clam AntiVirus (ClamAV), is a widely used antivirus Software toolkit for Unix-like operating systems. It is mainly used with a mail exchange server as a server-side email virus scanner. ClamAV is open source software distributed under the GPL. A third-party provides a graphical user interface for ClamAV.

ClamAV can be configured to automatically update its list of virus definitions via the internet. Both ClamAV itself and the updates are made available free of charge.

ClamXav is a free virus checker for Mac OS X. It uses the ClamAV engine as a back end.
