Distributed Coordination Function |
Distributed Coordination Function is a type of Media Access Control technique used in Wi-Fi Wireless LANs. DCF manages the transmission over a medium by allowing each node to listen to surrounding nodes to see if they are transmitting, before transmitting themselves.
DCF is de-facto default setting for Wi-Fi hardware.
Compare with Point Coordination Function, which uses the Access Point in the network to manage media access.
