Enterprise Generation Language, or EGL, is a 4th generation language initially developed in the 1980s. IBM created EGL to help procedural programming language, particularly those with RPG programming language and COBOL experience, learn the concepts and practices of object-oriented programming more easily.
EGL is perhaps best known as a feature within IBM s workbench.
