Exploding dog (video)

Exploding dog is a four-second amateur special effects experiment which became an almost instant internet phenomenon. The video goes as follows:

- The camera fades in on a Norwich Terrier sitting on a picnic blanket, accompanied by a drumroll. - The dog then suddenly appears to vanish in a puff of smoke and flying fur.

Upon frame-by-frame viewing of the explosion , it becomes obvious that the scene cuts to a stuffed toy being blown up with a firecracker. The stuffed toy cuts in at the exact moment of detonaton in order to conceal the effect; but the trick is given away by improper placement of the stuffed toy, causing the explosion to appear in a slightly different location than where the dog was initially sitting.
