FAST Institute for Computer Science (now National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences)
FAST Institute for Computer Science dates back to 1985 when the Foundation of Advancement of Science and Techonology (FAST) put together the effort for developing sciences in Pakistan and to fulfill their aim they set up institutes for computer sciences in the two major cities of Pakistan... Lahore and Karachi. Later on they expanded it to the Capital city of Pakistan - Islamabad.
These institutes popularly known as FAST amongst the public became the leading educational center for the computer science field of Pakistan and made their mark as the best not only amongst their peers in the country but in the software industry of the west like England and USA.
In 2000 this institute was chartered as National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences in the Federal Area (capital) becoming the first truely multi campus university of Pakistan with campuses in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad with the board in Islamabad. Later on in year 2002 another campus was introduced in the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences in Peshawar.
NUCES of still popularly known as FAST not only fostered academics but also put immense support toward the extra curricular activities and became one of the few universities of Pakistan with so much support for student activities as a result many student organizations originated to make a mark of which the most commendable is [http://www.nu.edu.pk/softec2004.asp SOFTEC] (Software Exhibition and Competition) which takes place every year at the [http://www.nu.edu.pk/lahore.asp Lahore campus]. it is the largest IT event with contests and exhibitions of software not only from the Whole country but from ASIA as well. Another important event in ProCom ([http://www.nu.edu.pk/procom.asp ProCom 2005]) which takes place every year at the [http://khi.nu.edu.pk/ Karachi campus]. ProCom comprises of two main competitions, Programming and Software competition. Starting 2005, Gaming and Hardware Competitions have also been introduced. Further there are seminars, stalls, hardware and software exhibitions. Students all over Pakistan are invited to take part in the said competitions.
FAST offers: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Bioinformatics and Business Administration MS in Computer Science and Project Management PHD in Computer Sciences and Mathematics
