Gajim |
: Gajim should not be confused with Gaim, another instant messaging client.
Gajim is a libre software instant messaging client for the Jabber (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) protocol which uses the GIMP Toolkit toolkit. It runs on GNU/Linux, BSD and Microsoft Windows.
=Mission=
The goal of the Gajim project is to provide a full-featured and easy to use XMPP client for GTK users. Gajim does not require GNOME to run, though it works nicely under a GNOME environment.
=Gajim Features=
Gajim is available in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Portugese, Greek, Bulgarian, Dutch, Czech and Norwegian.
=Network Features=
Because Jabber allows gateways to other services, which many servers support, it can also connect to the Yahoo! Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ and .NET Messenger Service networks. Other services available using gateway servers, include RSS (file format) and Atom (standard) news feeds, sending Short message service messages to cellular networks and weather reports. For more see Jabber.
