Game Freak

GAME FREAK, Inc. (ゲームフリーク) is the Japanese video game developer behind the Pokémon series of Role-playing games, as well as several other games. It is now owned by Nintendo.

The company was founded on April 26, 1989 by Satoshi Tajiri (田尻 智 Tajiri Satoshi , born August 28, 1965). In honor of the founder, the lead character in the Japanese version of the Pokémon TV series was named Satoshi.

Their most popular RPG series, Pokémon, is published by Nintendo in both Japan and North America. Pokémon is formally known as Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター Poketto Monsutaa ) in Japan, and the abbreviation ポケモン ( Pokemon ) is derived from the Japanese spelling.

Game Freak is currently developing Screw Breaker , an all new game for Game Boy Advance, along with the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl versions of Pokémon for the Nintendo DS.
