Geography Markup Language

The Geography Markup Language (GML) utilises XML to express geographical features. It can serve as a modelling language for geographic systems as well as an open interchange format for geographic data.

The membership of the Open_Geospatial_Consortium (OGC), an international voluntary consensus standards organization, maintains the GML standard. The OGC coordinates with the ISO TC 211 standards organization to maintain consistency between OGC and ISO standards work.
