HSV-7

s.

HSV-7 was officially launched on-air on Sunday 4 November 1956, the first of the Melbourne stations, and the second of the initial four licenses (after TCN-9 in Sydney), to do so.

The call letters HSV stand for Herald Sun Victoria (or Herald Sun Vision according to the HWT) and were used to brand the station in those early years when individual TV stations were very much stand-alone and relied little on the network. HSV-7 s studios were located in Dorcas Street, South Melbourne, from 1956 until HSV-7 moved to Melbourne s Docklands in the 2000s.
