Hatten är din (Swedish for The Hat is Yours ) was a popular internet meme from 2000. It s a flash animation featuring the music of Azar Habib in front of what appears to be a party with various people wearing traditional Turkey or middle eastern clothing. It is subtitled in Swedish language. A hat is also frequently seen floating between the characters heads.

In 1984 the Lebanese musician Azar Habib recorded Habbeetik (in Arabic language). Sixteen years later a Patrik Nyberg, Johan Gröndahl and Pet Bagge, having noticed that the lyrics sound not only like Swedish, but also describe a popular drinking game involving the passing around of hats, make a flash animation taking advantage of this fact. The original page, http://come.to/hatten, has been taken down, but mirrors survive.

Without changing the music at all, they proceed to imbue Swedish wording to the song s lyrics such that their subtitles match what a Swede might interpret the vocals are. It goes without saying then that the Swedish text would be somewhat nonsensical.
