The Hyperion is a battlecruiser (StarCraft) in the StarCraft universe, currently commanded by Jim Raynor. It has a long and checkered history.

The Hyperion was originally a Terran Confederacy battlecruiser which crash-landed in Umojan Protectorate territory, out of range of Confederate hailing frequencies. It was originally commanded by Pollock Rimes.

It became part of Arcturus Mengsk s Sons of Korhal - Mengsk had allied with the Umojan Protectorate and was currently located at Umoja.

The Terran Confederacy attacked Korhal IV, for fear that the Korhalian rebels had allied with the Umojans, with 1000 Apocalypse-class nuclear missiles. This attack wiped out life on the surface of Korhal.

Mengsk renamed the vessel the Hyperion and made it the flagship of his very small fleet.

During the attack on Tarsonis, Mengsk betrayed his second-in-command Sarah Kerrigan, abandoning her to the Zerg. Jim Raynor, in revenge, hijacked the Hyperion and took command of it.

Engineer s Mate Aaren Ruth has been to Shakuras, suggesting the battlecruiser spent time there at some point.

Hyperion can be called the Millenium Falcon of Starcraft. It is an old and faithful ship, which saw countless modifications and updates, and participated in and survived most of the crucial battles of the sector, including the fall of the Zerg Overmind on Aiur and many battles against the forces of the United Earth Directorate and Infested Kerrigan during the Brood War Introduction. At the end of the Brood War, Hyperion, under the command of James Raynor, was the command ship and home base of Raynor s Raiders.

Compared to the typical battlecruiser, the Hyperion has slightly more powerful attacks but is much tougher. It is frequently compared unfavorably to the Norad II , however, which has much more powerful attacks.
