iPodLinux is a µCLinux-based Linux distribution targetted specifically to run on Apple Computer s iPods. Besides the Linux kernel, iPodLinux features as a primary component podzilla, an application which provides:
As of 2005 16 September 2005, only the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations are officially supported by iPodLinux. (The iPodLinux project does not plan support for iPod shuffles.) The current limitations are imposed by iPodLinux s graphical installers. While iPodLinux itself supports all generations, currently the Windows and Mac installers only install onto 1st through 3rd generation iPods. There are, however, an abundance of modified installers on their forums to install onto other generations.
Arguably one of the project s more notable accomplishments is its Video Player, released months before rumors about Apple s Video iPod began to spread.
