IceBB

IceBB is an open-source forum system written in PHP and using the MySQL database system. IceBB is still beta software at the time of writing, but a final release is planned this fall.

= History =

IceBB s lead developer (MutantMonkey) was once an avid Invision Power Board (IPB) user until September 27, 2004 when the Invision Power Services revoked its unlimited trial. With the release of this news, many IPB modification developers started work on their own message board software systems.

Development of IceBB began on October 4, 2004 and the first public release (Alpha 1) was released on November 13, 2004. It is the only known system to survive the mass of systems started when the free IPB download was removed by utilizing the popularity of one of MutantMonkey s earlier IPB modification s website, Kenka, to demonstrate the use of an IPB alternative.
