Introversion Software |
Introversion Software is a UK based company that labels itself The last of the bedroom programmers . It was founded by three friends, Chris Delay, Mark Morris and Thomas Arundel. The coding for their first game Uplink (computer game) was done almost exclusively by Chris, while Mark and Tom handled marketing, materials and the other business elements. Their small initial investment enabled them to buy CD-Rs, and printer cartridges, and early copies of the game were published in this way. They were able to fully make back their investment within a few hours of accepting orders, flying in the face of multinational developers and publishers which spend millions.
A large and loyal community formed, and the team, along with a new programmer Andy Bainbridge have been working on two new games, Darwinia (computer game) and what is cryptically called <the next next game>.
Introversion has a relatively small following, but the followers are Cult Like ; its games are both considered cult classics. Uplink for instance has an extremely strong modding community.
