John Daker |
John Daker is the unfortunate victim of an Internet phenomenon similar to the plight of Star Wars kid. A video of his vocal work originally aired on a Peoria, Illinois Public-access television channel in the early 1990s.
His performance consists of two songs of a pseudo-operatic voice and various odd and sometimes alarming facial expressions to accompany his vocal stylings. Additionally, he has a tendency to forget lyrics during a song and either looks angry or simply hums along until he recalls a word (often times, the wrong word). Simply by watching the video, it is difficult to tell if he is embarrassed, truly trying to belt the song out, or possibly slightly inebriated. The video of his performances have been passed around the Internet (most notably at EBaum s World) for quite a while now.
The piano player in the Daker video, Reva Unsicker (née Reva Singley Cooper June 301915 - August 5, 1995), had been teaching piano in Peoria, Illinois for fifty-five years. She attended First United Methodist Church.
John Daker was also a character in Michael Moorcock s Eternal Champion series. John Daker was one of the incarnations of the Eternal Champion, he was referred to in several of Moorcock s books. Other incarnations: Corum, Elric, Erekose, Hawkmoon, and many more.
