L0de Radio Hour |
The l0de Radio Hour was an Internet radio show broadcasted from New Orleans by a man who was known only to his audience as l0de . It ran on an irregular schedule since March 2004; the last show commemorated the then-recent suicide of Klerck. The show frequently took sides on controversial topics in the interest of amusing and/or offending the listening audience. It had voiced pro-Palestinian sentiments, condoned violence, anti-Semitism, and racism; embraced homosexuality and the spread of AIDS; vocalized both tacit and broad support for terrorism, teenage suicide, Satanism, Nazism, disco, anarchism, Linux, arson, beastiality, Microsoft Windows, and recreational drug use; often promoted conspiracy theory as to Israeli culpability for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States (often simply summed up as Jews did World Trade Center! ); ridiculed the candidates in the U.S. presidential election, 2004 with a digitally edited recording of U.S. presidential election debates, 2004#First presidential debate .E2.80.94 September 30, such that the candidates espoused psychotic views (e.g. promoting the murder of children) after being administered with enormous dosages of powerful hallucinogenic drugs; and endorsed Zombie Hitler for President of the United States of America.
Disregarding the dangers of controversy, l0de was allegedly visited by the police after threatening to hijack a Carnival Cruise Lines in order to crash it into the White House in a kamikaze attack. Despite being intended only as a blatant parody of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the police found it less than amusing.
Contributing to the anarchy nature of the show were the listener telephone; these were generally instigated by Internet trolls, the show s core audience, who often spoke with accents or represented themselves as prominent figures in the open source movement. Fans were also encouraged to send in MP3 files of music they wanted to hear played on the show. The musical selections ranged from techno, heavy metal music, and hip-hop, to folk rock and reggae. For reasons not entirely explained, music by Rush (band) is banned. Around the end of Season 2 (in early 2005), l0de began offering a data DVD with season one encoded in MP3 format, as well as extra bonus material, ranging from pornography and an unreleased Communism mix, to a copy of the movie Battle Royale .
Season three has been postponed indefinitely in the wake of destructive Category 4 tropical cyclone Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. On September 4, 2005, a hoax message purportedly written by l0de s mother Esmeralda appeared on l0de s web site, notifying visitors that her son had died two days earlier in an explosion started by gunfire in New Orleans.
