List of Wikimedia projects

Wikipedia is one of many projects of the Wikimedia Foundation.

=Wikipedia=

Wikipedia is the most popular of the Wikimedia projects, with legitimate articles in the English language alone. Other Wikipedias include the German Wikipedia with over 200,000 articles, and the French Wikipedia with over 100,000 articles.

Wikipedia was officially launched on January 15, 2001 as a supplement to Nupedia, which was an encyclopedia that worked on the same ideology as Wikipedia, however with an extensive peer review system. It was essentially where the general public wrote articles that would be eventually entered on Nupedia after the said peer-review process. However, since Wikipedia became much more popular, Nupedia was taken off the Internet on September 26, 2003.
