Live365

Live365 is an internet radio Web site where members can create their own online radio station or listen to other Live365 broadcasters online stations. As of October 2005, there are about 7,500 active stations, some of which play niche genres seldom heard on AM broadcasting/FM broadcasting radio.

Users can tune in to Live365 stations via Winamp, ITunes, Real, Microsoft Windows Media Player, Terra Lycos, and other MP3 players. You choose stations from lists grouped by genre. One may also register with a valid e-mail address and download the Live365 Player software which provides additional features. Live365 also offers a paid membership which allows you to listen to broadcasts commercial-free and avoid pop-up window ads.

You can also create your own radio station by purchasing a special Broadcaster membership. There are several different packages that are appropriate for different purposes. Personal broadcasters can create a playlist of MP3 files that are streamed to listeners. Live365 provides helpful software to upload MP3 files and schedule playlists to run at certain times providing a more diverse and dynamic listening experience.

Advanced broadcasters can download software and broadcast live using a home computer, stable bandwidth connection and a microphone or mixing board. Professional broadcaster memberships include royalty and licensing packages for ASCAP, BMI and SESAC fees. Advanced users can also relay streams from external sources.

Broadcasters can experiment with assigning their stations a primary genre and some memberhip packages allow you to monitor rankings and listenership via geographical statistics.
