Mercora, Inc. is a Silicon Valley company based in Santa Clara, California. Mercora develops and distributes the innovative IM Radio/IMDJ, IM Artist, and IM Radio Mobile software applications for webcasting and listening to digital music. Mercoras mission statement is to create the worlds largest music catalog and make it easily searchable and listenable.
Mercora IM Radio and IMDJ were originally free for consumers, with no adware or spyware. With Mercora version 2.0-4 (in BETA as of August 2005) a pay service was introduced. This allowed unlimited usage which was previously free in older versions. At the time, a basic free service was introduced which offered decreased functionality.
The BETA version of the software is currently not charging consumers during the testing period, and won t for the forseeable future. Mercora is to rely on google addsence like adds, based on what you listen to.
Mercora claims to have the largest and most diverse digital music network with over 2.5 million unique tracks and over 200,000 unique artists.
The CEO of Mercora is Srivats Sampath, who was previously CEO of McAfee.com, the antivirus and computer security company. Atri Chatterjee, VP Marketing & Business Development, was previously VP of Marketing and Business Development at McAfee.com and VP of Marketing and co-founder at Responsys, Inc.
Mercora is privately held.
