Sakaguchi assumes the role of president at the new studio, and Kensuke Tanaka, the creator of the PlayOnline system, is the vice president. Also, it has been confirmed that Yoshitaka Amano, Final Fantasy s character designer, Nobuo Uematsu, Final Fantasy s composer, and Takehiko Inoue, a popular Japanese manga artist, will work in the new company.

In August 2004, it was announced that Mist Walker had begun work on three new Role playing game games. One of them is a Tactical role-playing game for the Nintendo DS. The other two titles, Blue Dragon (video game) and Lost Odyssey , are confirmed to be exclusive to Microsofts Xbox 360 videogame console.

Mist Walker is somewhat unique among game development companies because it outsourcing coding duties to other companies (including Artoon, and Feel Plus), preferring to focus primarily on the design portion of game development.

In October 2005 it was anounced that Mistwalker is producing a game called ASH for the Nintendo DS system.
