MusikCube |
musikCube is an open source audio player (software) with library support. It supports MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, Monkey s Audio, and CD audio file formats. It also features a CD ripper. It has an input plugin API for added format support, as well as another plugin system for additional features.
musikCube does not and will not support skins - the interface will match the theme of the operating system.
=About=
Casey Langen, the developer of musikCube is one of the original developers of WxMusik. Casey left that project, which Gunnar Roth now develops, to work on his latest project - musikCube.
musikCube uses a backend entitled musikCore , this controls the database and playback functionality of the software and has no gui code of its own. From this framework it is possible to build an alternative GUI for any operating system. A Linux version exists but has not been promoted due to lack of configure scripts and Makefiles.
The library database uses SQL, this way of storing data allows it to be very accessible. For example the user can create dynamic playlists that sort and gather tracks together through simple queries. This feature and examples can be found on the musikCube [http://www.musikcube.com/wiki wiki].

The latest release of musikCube is 1.0 RC 1 (as of September 2005). This release is quite significant as it is in preparation for the 1.0 Release of musikCube. User testing and word-of-mouth is crucial to insure the 1.0 release of musikCube is successful.
=Translations=
There are currently two translations of musikCube :
It is Binary Hack Translations and All menus, context menus, boxes and miniPlayer are translated but it s not possible to translate the interface.
