New Vision is one of two main national newspapers in Uganda. Established in the 1980s by the government, the paper is state-owned. New Vision is broadly sympathetic to the government of President Yoweri Museveni. The paper does possess a great deal of editorial independence, though not as much as the fully independent The Monitor , the second national paper of Uganda.
