Nival

Nival is a Russian video game developer. According to some measures, it is the largest developer in the country.

Nival s primary focus is on real-time strategy games. Its best-known products would probably be Etherlords, Blitzkrieg (computer game), and Silent Storm. The company is currently working on the fifth game in the Heroes of Might and Magic series, a franchise owned by Ubisoft.

Nival was founded in 1996 by Sergey Orlovskiy. In early 2005, the company was bought by Ener1 Group, a Florida-based holdings company, for around US$10 million. Ener1 has stated that it will integrate Nival s artists, designers, and programmers with its US-based video gaming interests , although there is confusion as to what this means, as Ener1 is not yet known to have any involvement with video games other than Nival. Ener1 has also stated an intention to turn Nival s resources towards development for video game console — until now, all Nival s games have been for the IBM PC compatible. Nival s management and marketing teams will now be based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Florida, while the main development team will remain in Moscow.
