Oregano (web browser) |
A commercial web browser for the RISC OS range of computers.
Published and distributed by [http://www.oreganouk.net OreganoUK Ltd] (now Genesys Developments Ltd), Oregano is a derrivative of a browser developed by [http://www.oregan.net Oregan Networks Ltd] under the name Oregan TV Browser for consumer electronics devices, games consoles and IP (Internet Protocol) Set Top Boxes.
Oregan s technology architecture features an abstraction layer, which enables its software to be ported across various hardware and Operating System platforms. An abstraction layer implementation has been created for the RISC OS environment, which enables the Oregan software to run on RISC OS based desktop machines.
Oregano 2, the current version of the RISC OS software version, supports HTML 4.01 (partially), CSS-1, DOM-0, JavaScript 1.5 and Macromedia (c) Flash 4.0 content.
Genesys Developments Ltd have now secured licensing rights for the latest version of Oregan s browser technology, and the RISC OS version will be known as Oregano 3. This will be a paid upgrade, but will offer complete HTML 4.01 support, XHTML 1.0, CSS-2, DOM-2, JavaSCript 1.5, and Macromedia (c) Flash 6.0 compatability.
A [http://www.riscos.info/unix/firefox/ port] of Mozilla Firefox to RISC OS has also recently been made available, meaning that Oregano 3 will not be the only standards-compliant browsing application on RISC OS.|
