PLS is a computer file format that stores multimedia playlists. It is a more expressive format than an M3U, as it can store (cache) information on the song title and length, in addition to URLs. This is more information than can be stored with a normal M3U file. However, M3U playlists, because of their simplicity, can be easily created with a scripting language such as AppleScript or JavaScript. With PLS version 2, playlists also include a PLS version declaration.
