Pure Pwnage

Pure Pwnage (pronounced Pure Ownage ) is an internet video series by ROFLMAO Productions featuring a Canada pro gamer named Jeremy. The show is essentially a comical satire of the gamer s life . Settings for the show include Toronto and occasionally Calgary. Jeremy reveals to the viewers throughout the series what it is like to be a pro gamer. He claims to have so-called Ã?ber Micromanagement (computer gaming) (an actual style of video gaming) which he shows to fellow gamers as a way of communication.

The show is filmed by Jeremy s roommate and brother Kyle. Kyle is currently attending film school and will soon graduate. The [http://www.purepwnage.com Pure Pwnage] site states that they may go into full time production after Kyle s graduation. A DVD is now scheduled to be released, somewhere around the region of episode twelve, which is the planned end of the first season.

=Character bios=

In order of appearance:

==Jeremy==

Twenty-something year old Jeremy is what has become known as the stereotypical pro gamer. The main . Jeremy is Doug s best friend.

==Kyle==

Kyle is a year or two younger than Jeremy and a full-time film student. Though you never get to see him, he is an essential character in the series, and according to Jeremy, is a total noob. Always trying to keep Jeremy in check, Kyle is constantly trying to introduce something to replace gaming in Jeremys life.

Throughout the series Kyle strives to remain anonymous, and it is unknown why he would want to do so. A wallpaper available on the [http://www.purepwnage.com Pure Pwnage] site shows Kyle, though his face is hidden behind a camera and a baseball cap. Fans have actually seen Kyle and in episode eight they comment on him saying I thought Kyle would look cooler. No wonder he s behind the camera.

One theory is that Kyle is featured in episode 8, when Doug is training Jeremy how to make a headshot, when the camera quickly zooms into an anonymous person s face. It can be argued that the mysterious wallpaper of Kyle seems to indicate that the two have the same hair color, and there is hint of a small beard on Kyle, something the before mentioned anonymous person has.

==Doug (FPS Doug)==

A fellow pro gamer, Doug is Jeremys slightly psychotic . This was confirmed as true as upon being beaten once in a game of Counter Strike Source, he began to yell angrily and eventually smashed his keyboard.

Doug s catchphrase is BOOM! HEADSHOT!

==Dawei (Dave)==

Jeremys friend Dave is probably most famous for his cooking skills and his sense of humour (or lack of it). He first appeared at the end of episode three, being introduced as a crew member in the Behind the Scenes featurette (whose star moment was holding up a lamp in episode two). According to the [http://www.purepwnage.com/mailbag.html Pure Pwnage] site, Dave is paid three bowls of rice a week for being on the show. He doesn t particularly care about Jeremy and Kyle s antics and is not a hardcore gamer. According to a live chat with the cast, he is apparently pretty good at Super Smash Bros.

==teh_masterer==

teh_masterer is the mysterious master gamer who originally trained Jeremy. You can only see his eyes as he is clad entirely in a ninja outfit. His skill is demonstrated by his ability to play four video games at once. This strategic mastermind claims to have beaten Garry Kasparov and Deep Blue with nothing more than a row of pawns and a single bishop . teh_masterer first makes an appearance in episode 4 and again in episodes 6 and 8.

==Anastasia==

Massively multiplayer online game-playing Anastasia is Jeremys first love. They met up for the first time in episode two (although this was never shown) while Jeremy was trying to pick up girls. In episode six, they meet up again by chance and start meeting up online in World of Warcraft. Anastasia cares a lot for Jeremy but has a different view on games that they should be fun, not just about pwning. According to [http://mmogrrl.blogspot.com her blog], Anastasia was born in the year of the Rabbit (1987).

==deathstriker6666==

deathstriker6666 is an overconfident, arrogant, boasting pro gamer who opposes both Jeremy and Doug. His specialty (as far as it s possible to tell), is . In episode 8, he beats FPS Doug in a one-one Counter-Strike: Source match after which Doug faints. As payback, Jeremy humiliates him in the next match with a knife kill.

WoW is a Warcraft game and an massively multiplayer online game, the two things Jeremy hates most in the world. Nevertheless, his want to see her again leads him to purchase the game so that they can meet up in the game world. Jeremy soon falls in love with both Anastasia and WoW, but falls prey to the MMO s spell. Jeremy teaches Doug about real time strategy games, while Doug teaches Jeremy about first-person shooters. At the start of Lanageddon, after making fun of a few noobs, they sign up for a Counter-Strike: Source tournament. They do impeccably, Doug even managing to challenge seven people all by himself and all at the same time. Things are going great for the duo, until they meet the loud-mouthed, over-confident deathstriker6666. After dismissing him as a noob, they then discover that his gaming talents are not overstated. • Noob/newbies - Someone who is new to gaming using the latter word, but means that someone just plain sucks using the former word. This term is used commonly in the show by Jeremy as an insult or taunt. Jeremy s justification for calling even skilled gamers noobs is because everyone is a noob compared to me.
  • BOOM! HEADSHOT! - Shooting someone in the head with a gun, therefore killing them, in this case in Counter-Strike. Used by fps_doug often.
  • LOL (Internet slang)! - Stands for Laughing Out Loud , an acronym commonly used by internet users signifying that what an internet user or gamer has typed, shown or done is funny. Used by Jeremy in real life. He actually says LOL when he laughs.
  • ROFLMAO - Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off , an acronym with similar use to LOL.
  • (My/your) Micromanagement (computer gaming) - Phrase used as a humorous parody on how gamers demonstrate/perceive each other s micro skills. That is, executing a pseudo micro without a mouse and a keyboard, for instance in air or other platforms irrelevant in gaming (such as a public phone, or an ATM).
  • =Notes=

    # The word pwnage can be pronounced several different ways. However, the show s creators pronounce it ownage and seem to disdain other ways of pronounciation, in particular pone . See Pwn. # There is one instance where Kyle is mistakingly caught on camera. In the first episode, when Jeremy is talking, there is a mirror behind him, and you can see Kyle holding up the camera for a second.
