Removeable media

Removable media refers to cartridge and disc-based storage devices which can be used to easily move data between computers with the right readers. Floppy disks, compact discs and flash memory cards are all removeable media.

The term can also apply to hot swappable or hot-pluggable external storage devices, such as USB flash drives (also known as key drives or memory keys ) and FireWire external hard disks.
