Robinson Technologies |
Robinson Technologies is a company founded by Seth Robinson when he created the megapopular BBS door game, Legend of the Red Dragon.
Robinson Technologies has had many people to work for them, however only a single person has remained constant, founder Seth Robinson. He now operates the company with the help of his wife, Akiko Robinson, in Hiroshima, Japan.
The company is known for the wicked sense of humor of its creator. This humor was evident in Legend of the Red Dragon and Dink Smallwood as well as most of the games Seth has created or helped on.
=Company History=
In 1989, Seth Robinson created a game for his Amiga-based BBS that he called Legend of the Red Dragon. At first, the game wasn t that popular, but after he ported the game to the PC, it took off like a rocket.
He would eventually follow up on LORD with the game, , which was a space-based trade/buy/sell game.
Eventually, after advertising a game by the name of New World , Seth released an official sequel to LORD called . It was not the original concept for the name New World but due to having advertised the name, Seth wanted to get a game out and used the LORD name to do so. While not as successful as its predecessor, the game did have a cult-like following.
Eventually, Seth Robinson wanted to get away from BBS door games and eventually created Dink Smallwood, a PC RPG hit featuring a young main character named Dink Smallwood. Dink became a cult classic in its own right. Following the concept of IGMs from the original LORD, Seth added a feature called DMods, which were addons very much like IGMs that anyone could create and distribute freely. Because of DMods, the game s life was extended and became a big cult classic. Today, Robinson Technologies has released the game to the public for free and can be downloaded without charge from their website.
