SMG plc is a Scotland media company.

Formerly known as the Scottish Media Group, it changed its name when it acquired Virgin Radio, which operates in England and Wales as well as Scotland.

It also owns the two and runs the ITV franchises in England and Wales. SMG threatened to take legal action over the use of the ITV because it is the name of the Independent Television network which Scottish and Grampian are part of.

It also owns production company Ginger Television, outdoor billboard advertiser Primesight, and cinema advertiser Pearl & Dean whose rival Carlton Onscreen Advertising is owned by ITV plc. Virgin Radio is one of two (non BBC) commercial radio stations that reaches all of the UK.
