Shueisha

Shueisha (集英社 Shūeisha ) is a major publisher in Japan. Shueisha s Jump Comics division is a large publisher of manga. Shueisha is headquartered in Tokyo. The company was founded in 1925 as the entertainment-related publishing division of Japanese publisher Shogakukan. The following year Shueisha became a separate, independent company.

Shueisha later founded Hakushensha, which has gone on to become another of Japan s most successful publishers.

Shueisha publishes the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and organizes the Tezuka Award in Japan.

Its Shonen Jump, begun in 1969, is the world s most popular and most successful Japanese manga magazine.

Shueisha, along with Shogakukan, owns Viz Media, which publishes manga from both companies in the United States.
