Shuman Ghosemajumder (born 1974) is a businessman, technologist, and author based in Silicon Valley. He is the co-author of the book CGI Programming Unleashed (Macmillan and Company, 1997, ISBN 1575211513) and has also written numerous works on digital media distribution, including the Open Music Model .
He is a member of the product management team at Google, which he joined in 2003. He was the co-founder of Anadas, a Canadian software development firm, where he served as president and chief executive officer. He was previously a lead software engineer at Groupware Corporation, where he designed and developed the world s first Collaborative real-time editing graphic design application. He also held strategy consulting roles with IBM and McKinsey & Company, advising Fortune 500 corporations on media, technology and new venture development.
He was born in Stuttgart, Germany, Germany and raised in London, Ontario, Ontario, Canada, where he attended London South Secondary School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario, where he was a Canada Merit Scholarship Foundation winner (top fifteen students in the country), and his Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
While in college, he was one of the world s top parliamentary debaters and public speakers, winning the North American Public Speaking Championship as well as first-place awards at the Harvard University and New York University International Championships. He was also elected the youngest-ever president of the CUSID and the University of Western Ontario Debating Society.
