Simtex

Simtex was a game developer established by Steve Barcia in 1988. It created a number of well-known turn-based game strategy games for the IBM PC compatible, most notably the first two Master of Orion games. The company closed in 1997.

  • *Mech Lords (1995 — unreleased)
  • (in development at time of closure — never finished)
  • The rights to Simtex s games are now held by Atari — a third Master of Orion game was published by Atari (then called Infogrames) in 2003, having been developed by Quicksilver Software. There are also negotiations underway regarding a possible remake of Master of Magic by Stardock, developer of such games as Galactic Civilizations.
