Sleepycat Software makes Berkeley DB, a widely-used application-specific data management software. Sleepycat is a privately-held company with offices in California and Massachusetts.

The company was founded in 1996 to develop, support and distribute Berkeley DB. The founders were Margo Seltzer and Keith Bostic, who are also the original authors of Berkeley DB. Another original author Michael Olson is the President and CEO of Sleepycat.
