: The word synaptic refers to the synapse in neuroanatomy.
Synaptic is a computer program with a user-friendly GUI developed for the Advanced Packaging Tool package management system used in Linux and other operating systems. Synaptic supports RPM- and deb (file format)-based systems after recompilation.
Synaptic was created by Alfredo Kojima. It is now maintained by the Mandriva Linux technical staff.
