The Behemoth

The Behemoth (or The Behemoth Company) is a video game development company that was created in 2002 by John Baez, artist Dan Paladin (aka Synj), and programmer Tom Fulp, the creator of the popular Newgrounds Macromedia Flash website. The Behemoth development studio is located in San Diego, California. The company is known for producing fun, simple games with Paladin s signature 2D style.

Their first video game console game, Alien Hominid , gained critical acclaim by the media and the members of The Behemoth quickly gained status as hip, indie gaming developers focused on bringing back old-school styles of video games back into mainstream gaming.

The Behemoth s second game is currently very early development and is referred to as The Behemoth s Next Game by both the developers and media.

=History=

During August, 2002, Fulp and Paladin collaborated in creating the Flash game Alien Hominid for Newgrounds. The game has since become extremely popular and generated almost twelve million hits. Later in the year, Paladin was working on developing a console video game when co-worker Baez approached him. He was a fan of Alien Hominid and asked Paladin if he was interested in developing the game for consoles. When Baez offered to produce the game, Fulp and Paladin eventually agreed and formed The Behemoth.

=Video Game Titles=

  • Alien Hominid (2004) - A run-and-gun game (An homage to Metal Slug) featuring a little yellow alien on a quest to retrieve his spaceship from the FBI.
  • The Behemoth s Next Game / Ye Olde Side-Scroller (in production) (2005) - A beat-em-up genre, up to 4 players. A game that s set in the medieval times, a princess has been kidnapped by a evil monster crew, it s up to you and your fellow knights to save her. According to Tom Fulp, the game pays homage to Final Fight, Double Dragon and other classic beat-em-ups.
