uClinux (which stands for MicroControllerLinux and is pronounced as you-see-Linux) is a Linux distribution operating system for microcontrollers (µCs, embedded systems) without a memory management unit (MMU). It is derived from version 2.0 (1996) of the Linux kernel. Since version 2.6 of the Linux kernel, the major parts of uClinux have been integrated with the mainline kernel, but the project continues to develop patches and supporting tools for using Linux on microcontrollers.
