VLDB stands for Very Large DataBase. A very large Database contains an extremely high number of Tuples (database rows), and/or occupies an extremely large physical filesystem storage space.
The specific size of a very large database is not clearly defined among industry and academia. The most common definition for a VLDB describes a very large database as occupying more than 1 terabyte of physical filesystem storage space, and/or containing several billion rows.
