Viiv |
Viiv (pronounced VIVE ) is brand of media center PCs announced by Intel for introduction in early 2006.
Intel claims each Viiv-based PC will feature Dual-core, remote control operation, and wireless networking. Optionally, a Viiv-based PC will function as a personal video recorder with the addition of a TV tuner card.
Current specifications state that Viiv-based PCs will ship with Windows XP Media Center Edition. In August, 2005, news sites reported claims from an unspecified Taiwan-based PC manufacturer that Intel was working on Linux versions of the Viiv software to reduce costs. The license fee for Windows XP Media Center Edition constitutes a large part of the cost for a media center PC.
