Virgin Interactive was a successful and influential United Kingdom video game publisher. It was formed from the remnants of the large-scale 80s label, Mastertronics, which was purchased by Virgin Group in 1987. It was part of the Virgin Group, and it was once considered the Electronic Arts of Europe.
It published games for IBM PC compatible as well as other systems, including the Commodore Amiga, Commodore 64 and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
It helped the career of many video game developer, including Westwood Studios and Synergistic.
It was acquired in 1999 by the France publisher Titus publisher and its name was changed to Avalon Interactive on July 1, 2003.
