WinSCP

WinSCP is an open source SSH file transfer protocol client for Microsoft Windows. Its main function is secure file transfer between a local and a remote computer. Beyond this, WinSCP offers basic file manager functionality. It uses Secure Shell (Secure shell) and supports, in addition to SFTP, the legacy Secure copy protocol.

Developement of WinSCP was started approximately in May 2000 and still continues. Originally it was hosted on University of Economics, Prague, where its author used to work at the time. Since July 16 2003 it is licensed under GNU General Public License and hosted on SourceForge.

WinSCP is based on implementation of Secure shell protocol from PuTTY.

WinSCP is also available as a Plugin to two file managers, FAR Manager and Servant Salamander.
